“There is no tool for development, other than empowerment of the women”
Women empowerment is empowering the women to take their own decisions for their personal dependent. Empowering women is to make them independent in all aspects from mind, thought, rights, decisions, etc by leaving all the social and family limitations. Believing in the thought NSS Unit Cell of Chitkara University, Baddi organises many events regarding the same. This time especially the female volunteers of NSS participated in the inauguration ceremony of women’s police station in Panchkula.
It was organised on 28th August, 2015, in Panchkula. Around 90 female volunteers participated in the event along with NSS programme coordinator Ma’am Pooja Dhiman and our hostel warden Ma’am Rupali. The volunteers were first asked to gather in courtyard at 6a.m. After which everyone headed towards the college buses which were arranged to take them to the location in Panchkula. The volunteers were provided with breakfast which was provided by the college. At 8a.m. the buses reached the location where everyone gathered for the inauguration. The event started with a march from Mansa Devi Mandir and continued till Panchkula Station. After the march the volunteers were asked to sit. Then the event started with the touching performance by the Band RJ Pankaj. Then came the dance performance on Female Foeticide which touched the hearts of all. Female foeticide is the illegal practice of killing a foetus which is determined as a female. Female foeticide is prevalent in our country as a major social evil. The patriarchal social structure of India gives a secondary position to women. Female foeticide is a matter of shame. We must take it as a social and moral responsibility to stop the practice of female foeticide and also educate and encourage others to stop it completely. The dance performance expressed all these ideas in a very impressive manner. After this everyone welcomed honourable Chief Minister who addressed everyone with his kind words of appreciation.
After the event completed all the volunteers were asked to head towards the college buses. Everyone reached college with a smile of satisfaction on their faces at 12pm where they were appreciated by all for their extraordinary effort.
