“Every journey
of success starts with the idea of achieving it.”
The above lines are very true. Any team which works
with the idea to achieve its goals needs participation of every member. NSS
also needs young hearts and minds that work to serve the society and can raise
new ideas for it. In order to ensure better interaction not only among the team
members but also with the teachers that are associated with the team, an
orientation programme was organised in which the entire team was invited. As it
is rightly said, “A smallest idea has the power to change the whole world.” In
the same way NSS aims at changing the thinking of the society.
This orientation was organised on 21st
September, 2015 in room no. 1403 pi block, in 5th lecture. It was
organised in the presence of Dr. Sushil Kumar (NSS Coordinator), President
Punit Jain, and Vice-President Ritika Goyal. All the volunteers were told to
gather in room no. 1403 where everyone reached on time. At around 12.45p.m the
meeting started. The new volunteers were very excited about the meeting.
The meeting started with giving introduction about
NSS. They were told that what actually NSS was. They were told about the
various further groups that comprised NSS i.e. Sankalp, Unnati, Umang, Prayas.
They were given information about Sankalp that under
this project the volunteers taught/interacted with slum kids nearby our campus
area. The main motive of this project is to make these kids comfortable to the
education and hence to develop their interest in education. All these kids were
brought to the university campus and the NSS volunteers teach them daily from
Monday to Saturday. The kids are provided with notebooks, drawing sheets and
other stationary stuff.
Then they were also told about Unnati. It is a name given to social education for helping local
school students. As per name it was about progress. Under this plan the slum
students were given computer education so that they get some exposure to the
technical world. Then came Umang, in which personal grooming of the volunteers
was our focus. Events like poetry writing, artical writing, etc are organised
in which volunteers get a chance to try their writing skills also. At last came
Prayas in which medical camps like dental check up, blood donation, etc are
organised.
The volunteers were very impressed with the information
and showed great interest in participation for the future events. Dr. Sushil
Kumar (NSS Coordinator) motivated them to work with full dedication and
determination. The event successfully ended with the positive feedback of the
volunteers.
